I really wanted to make this painting about X and his brother D. So, X really has to pop off the painting. His armor, his wings, everything has to be like Pow! It goes well with the apathetic looking face.
Follow me week by week to the completion of my next great wall scroll - " Insectus Dominus"
"Art has always been my social weapon. Therefore, it's got to be good art." Black & white portraits shows everyones gray area.
Powerful, powerful portrait. What can these hands do? Fight against injustice. Fight the Power, fight the powers that be.

Where there is Love, Tenderness, Imagination, Art, Music...
The Angel comes to call, never a Devil,
No matter what you stir in the pot.
We are lost in a storm... This is another painting from my post grad period. A lot is going on. This was right around the time of the Rodney King verdict. My mind spray, My mind spray...
"Don't call it a comeback. I been here for years..."
So much to say. So much to see.
"Wanted", superhero chic. A take on AD's wanted posters. I never showed this to anyone. I stumbled over this painting in my studio recently. Although it's different. I kind of like it.
The return of BC Cop. Jack is back in B-More with another hardcore adventure.
I started this painting in Baltimore and finished it in New York. Maybe one day I'll bring Jack back again.
Wall scroll #2. Jack is back. Hitting hard...
This painting was the first "Wall Scroll". I was working up to this size - 4 feet by 16 feet. Grad school in "B-More". Overall this is an edgy painting, this represents me working at a high level. Teaching art has helped me get back in the studio and stay in that "B-More Groove".
"5 o'clock in the morning. Where you going be? Outside on the corner. Better get yourself together. While you wasting all this time right along with your mind..."
"I have no money, no resources, no hopes. I am the happiest man alive." To be young again. Growing up did not worry about much but school. We did not have much but we had a home. Now I have a bigger appreciation for my mother, my family. Fight the worry, stress. Fight the power! Why worry anyway. Stay real. Stay real.
I did 3 paintings like this on paper. They were all framed under glass. I still have "The Shroud". "Stay Real" & "Nonchalant" were sold.
I am the Way, the Truth, the Life.
My interpretation of the Shroud of Jesus Christ. The face is distorted. The colors are muted. A beautiful painting.

Don't front, you know I got cha opin. Check the dialect from the diaphragm my man -
It is something about graffiti that always catches my eye. Maybe it is the bold and bright colors. Or, it is the free expression of the untrained eye.
It's all that and the words- SuperHero 4-Ever...

This image of Angela Davis has appeared throughout my paintings. Back in the day everyone had their "Angela Davis Afro". It stood for something, pride/power. When I was young my mother from time to time had an afro. It had to be together too. It could not look busted.
Welcome to the jungle, a place called hell. I'm on your radio waves pollution free with no drugs allowed. This is your man, the main man, Muhammad MF on some new improved sh- with PE dropping "Lost at Birth" in the background. CLEAR THE WAY!-For this is the Sermon. Some might call it a declaration of war. Some might say it's a call to arms. The war to bring about the fall of the Evil Empire is upon us. Let us talk about revolution. Time to start. The time is now. So let us start with attitude. That is United States. As we affect this nation we affect the world. Yes, we are here today not for form or fashion. We are here to walk the walk, talk the talk. We don't come here to justify our vices. Bring us closer to God. The same God that gave strength to Marcus, Malcolm, Martin, Mandela. We are here for understanding. Not who we struggle against but, what we struggle against. Attitude, Culture, Civilization, the Metropolis. Why?

In God we have hope in death. Think about it. This is how I saw people deal with loss and uncertainty. And some time after I had to deal with my own loss. Walking home that day I was numb. The saddest day I ever witnessed. No reason no justification.
This painting is about another senseless act that most tried to call it an accident. Most of us are still living in that same black box. We still don't know how to talk to each other or how to treat each other. Still segregated controlled by the police. As James Baldwin has spoke about years ago - "...the power structure, not by some idle policeman. The police know who they are working for."
Police brutality, Stop Police Brutality. This is another painting from my post grad-school series. It also has been exhibited a lot in NYC. My mind spray on police brutality. We can't forget the past and where we come from.
The original 'mind spray'. Many of these images were right off the wall from my studio below Canal street. I would paint, go to sleep, wake up and paint some more. It was the radio, music, etc. I was so angry at the time and I didn't even know why. Summers in Manhattan were the best, so much to do. This painting is well traveled. It has shown in Sothebys to a small gallery in Queens.

New Trading Cars to go on sale this spring/summer. All original characters.
Art & War - great image collage - all the lies and truths. Who's the madman? One of my favorite paintings.
A powerful photo that I enhanced into an oil painting. I love working with color.
Art & War!
This is more than just playing with color. I call these paintings my mind spray. It begs to be done on a larger scale - maybe in the spring.
To the east, blackwards -"Heed the word of the brother"
This is another one gone too soon, Professor X. The colors work well on this one, the grays with cyan and magenta.

The Great American, who taught us all how to live. Like Jesus, who we all must follow to get to the promise land. We must teach our young to realize the Dream, not just because it is a holiday from school. We must take back our communities from the violence that took JMJ, Biggie, etc. His hands, Martin's hands - look at what your hands can do. "A man can't ride your back unless it is bent..." Martin Luther King Jr.
A different take on all the Biggie portraits - shirts, etc. I still listen to 'the kid from bedrock'.
